I could write a book on this one but I’ll try to keep it short because let’s be honest, the photos tell the story.
This one is about love, loss, and friendship. The groom is a good friend of mine that I got to know in my college days. We played basketball for 4 years and went through quite a bit together. The entire wedding day in Charlottetown, PEI felt like we never skipped a beat and were hanging out like old times. Early in the day, Jon asked – “Do you notice someone is missing?” He eluded to the initials that he had sewn into his shirt in memory of his late father. I didn’t hear the news beforehand but did notice the initials in his shirt very early in the morning. I could tell it in his voice that this day had some extra special meaning behind it. Jon also brought up a couple times that he was a bit nervous to give a speech at the reception. I looked at him knowing with full confidence and said: “I have complete faith in you, just say it from the heart and you’ll be fine”. Later that night he delivered what I would say is one of the most touching speeches I’ve ever heard from a groom. He moved every single person in the room and you could tell it was 100% from the heart. I was so happy to see him and his new wife Sarah so in sync with a mature and respectful love for one another. I thoroughly love getting to know my couples, and since I knew the groom already, I got to learn a bit more about Sarah and her family. They were all so sweet and treated me like I was a cousin who belonged there with them. I loved that they showed their genuine emotions and there are some moments below that bring me right back to PEI and I feel them all over again. I also had part of the day with just Jon and Sarah, and we ventured around some familiar places in what felt like an elopement when it was just the three of us. At the end of the night, they were all for getting creative with me, and the last few images below are what resulted in them saying “yes” to my crazy ideas. I love what I do.
